HI All, Planning a trip from Amsterdam to explore the Black Forest in June 2020. Shaz and I (Graham) are looking to blat the 2008 GS from Ijmuiden towards Baden-Baden and then take it from there. Would really appreciate advice on routes, city/town breaks, and places to visit. The plan is to explore for about 8 days with a finals days blat back to Ijmuiden from a blattable location (Ferry leaves at 17.30). Any suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. G. Keep it upright.

Hello Graham and Shaz
I to am planning a trip to Germany and will be doing the German alpine road. This route is southern Germany East to West or vice versa. Looks amazing. There is a website if you search online.
Also the B500 (can't not if in Germany, but there are others in the area)
Places to stay 100's, thinking of Airbnb myself
Things to do depends what floats your boat.
I'm going to go from Ijmuiden east to Berlin day 1 might stop with relatives on the Netherlands/German border
Day 2 Berlin to Prague see the sights.
Day 3 Prague to somewhere east of the German alpine road.
Day 4 Into Liechtenstein to Switzerland via who knows and stay over at the southern end of the B500.
Day 6/7 B500 north, go east and do parts of the castle route.
After that a return to ferry, my daughter says Cologne is a place to visit.
I'm anticipating about 3000 km's lots of stops for photography etc.

I wish you well with your trip.

Hi Darkeststar, Thanks so much for your reply, seems great minds think alike. We have planned our route and some of your suggestions are in there. We plan to blat 1st day from the ferry to Koblenz to arrive in time to take the cable car to the castle around sunset (best time to do it apparently). Early start next day to drop down to Mannheim for breakfast before a leisurely cruise along the first part of the castle route with an overnight stay in Heilbronn booked. From their we will drop down to Triberg(Of course using as much of the B500 as poss) where we will base ourselves for 3 nights so we can explore the Black forest at our leisure. We will then head North and stay 1 night in Mannheim before cruising further North for a 2 night city break in Cologne(I'm sure your daughter is right and thank her for the suggestion) On the penultimate day we will head west to an as yet undecided location, we have done Nijmegen so maybe Utrecht or even maybe Amsterdam so as to have a easy scoot back to Ijmuiden to catch the ferry home. Thanks again for your kind reply.
P.S. We live 5 minutes from the ferry so you are more than welcome to drop by for a coffee and sandwich before your crossing, It's great to compare notes with like minded travelers.
Have great trip and Kind Regards
Graham

Hi grumpydaddy38, Wow loads of saddle time indeed although the John Thonpson Bridge might be a Bridge to far! (Sorry, couldnt resist) Great idea incorporating the Swiss Alps passes into the trip you surely will see some beutiful sights and I can definately recomend Strassbourg for a visit, great city. You will definately need a sleep when you get back. Were leaving on the 20th, when were you thinking of?
