Love this bit of road done it a few times always worth a ride on, just watch out for the few sharp bends as you get into the ride lol
My local run and always a pleasure to come home to Thaxted from any direction after a blat. The B1051 from Thaxted to Elsenham, partly resurfaced offers lovely tarmac (in the resurfaced sections obviously) and twisties. Beware of mud on road 2m out of Thaxted from Haiges gravel depo. Mobile camera hotspots High Roding village, Dunmow, 30mph limit just after Great Easton by school.
We do this route on a regular basis. Very nice route indeed well worth a visit!
Chipping Ongar end gravelled recently 10-9-06 apart from that a lot more fun than the M25-M11 a cut through that i,ll use again i,m in the area
i did this last weekend! really good run, i did it on a sunday and there was no traffic at all, i had the whole road to myself *evil grin*
The B184 is a great favourite with local bikers. The section between Ongar and Leaden Roding is twisty and technical (particularly around Abbess Roding). After a brief right and left on the A1060 the road continues after Leaden Roding to include a fast section up to Dunmow. From there up through Thaxted to Saffron Walden is a series of sweeping bends, with just a few sharp ones to keep you on your toes. At Dunmow and Thaxted you can also turn east to get into the area of excellent biking roads around Finchingfield.
