Part 1 of a 3 day trip we did for our wedding anniversary over the trough of Bowland. Parkers arms at newton on Bowland is a really nice pub.
The wife and I did this trip as part of our 3 day touring trip to Scotland. This is leg 1 of 3. We stopped at the parkers arms in newton on Bowland then onto highwayman pub on the way up to Kirkby Lonsdale for some lunch then onto Carnforth at our caravan.
Did this route the other way round, but from Penrith back to our hometown of Swinton. It was a great ride, until we hit the M65 on the way down.
Hi All,My partner and I did this route on the intention to carry on up to devil's bridge (Kirby Lonsdale) but it took longer than we thought. The ride through Darwen is very nice. We decided to jump on the motorway to avoid Blackburn town centre which was a good choice. The route was very easy to follow even through Clitheroe. heading onto the B6478 and blasting down a big steep hill we stopped at the Parkers Arms, Newton in Bowland, for a drinkie and a meal. Very nice food!! Heading on in on The fells were amazing with lots of up and downs and twists. We stuck to around 40mph to soak in the scenery which was amazing over the fells. It was a bit windy but we had the single lane fell road to ourselves for the majority of the ride...We'll definately do this route again..
