Rode the Straetley to Blewbury stretch today, really nice little run, lots of speed and some nice sweeping bends, road surface very good too, cant wait to go back down that way!
This route is having its heart ripped out by 50 limits. A large section south of Faringdon now has a frankly unfathomable 50 limit. Welcome to Oxfordshire!
One of my best riding routes. Streatley to Blewbury is spectacular. On to Harwell is good. Then a bit boring on to Wantage as too many 50s and below. On to Faringdon, Lechlade, Fairford and Cirencester is also spectacular, though the odd 40 & 50 have crept in on some of the open sections. The 40 near & past the in the country local refuse centre is a good idea though (narrow road, blind approach, queues on road trying to gain access).
A nice long run through a selection of sections on the A417, particularly nice through the Wantage area. Watch out for the level crossing on a fast stretch. Try the Trout Inn in Lechdale for a stop.
