I use this route for my daily commute. It has a mixture of good corners, straight sections and some hazards and technical stuff to keep it interesting. There are two corners between Barley and Barkway which can be safely negotiated at speed once you know them well, but can catch you out if youre new to the road. The greatest wind up are the pensioners in Barley and Barkway who appear to enjoy using a police smiley speed measuring kit. They waft around in high viz jackets and report speeding motorists to each other using a radio. The junction across the A505 is a nightmare for cars in the rush hour but is easily dealt with once on a bike. The sharp corner and junction between Fowlmere and Newton should be taken with care as this part of the road is often used by cyclists and horse riders in the summer.
Great fun, a bit bumpy but cery enjoyable.
This road is fabulous, great corners (and many of them) and a couple of straight sections. Road is generally quiet, only things that let it down are too many villages at the south end, and slightly bumpy road surfaces in places.Otherwise this road makes you feel like youre doing the TT!Use this route as an alternative to get from the A10 to the M11, it is so much more fun.
