A stunning ride through the Dartmoor national park. Freely roaming animals, including sheep, cattle, horses and unobservant tourists, result in most of this route having a 40mph limit imposed by the park authorities - but then why would you want to rush through such beautiful scenery? The road from Two Bridges to Pear Tree can be quite interesting with some single track sections, high hedgerows and extremely tight corners with adverse cambers and loose gravel. Overall, the beautiful scenery and excellent pubs make this trip well worth the effort, but dont go here thinking youre going to break any land speed records.
The road is a fantastic plod as it is mostly open with wild ponies and lots of sheep so be careful of animal droppings in the road. You will come across the Tavistock Inn just past Poundsgate, it is a fantastic little pub with an open fire and does great food. The ride is worth it just for the pub itself. You can either follow the road onto the A38 or work your way back, its upto you.
