Poor road surface with some quite severe bumps, enough to lift you off the seat in places at only average speeds. Best part is the uphill section from the Littleborough side to the Blackstone Edge road on the top. Oh and dont go on a sunny evening, even on a weekday, is packed with 25mph cars.
I travelled a good distance (Burnley to Littleborough) through congested areas to reach this stretch of road, only to be disappointed: It is a short, easy route with few challenges, poor road surfaces, and uninspiring views relative to the other spectacular and exciting UK biking roads featured in this site.
Nice long gradual uphill section were you can realy feel the bike pull & pick up speed, watch out for those dossy sheep. then drops down the other side, some nice sweeping corners & a brill view, oh & the white house pub on the top if you want to stop or you can go left at the bottom of the hill & head up to the lake, a good biker meeting place. give it a go both ways its great.
