This route follow the famous Silverado Trail which runs through miles of vineyards before heading eastward past Lake Hennessy and then northwards though the very pleasant Pope Valley. It then picks up Butts Canyon Road which continues on to Middletown. You can either leave the route here and go north to Clear Lake, California´s largest lake wholly within the state (Lake Tahoe is bigger but lies between two states) or you can continue on this route which will take you to Calistoga, a very pleasant tourist town with many good restaurants. Buster´s Barbeque in Calistoga is a well know biker hangout with some killer tri tip steak sandwiches.. This route allow a visitor to get a good tour of the famous Napa Valley wine region while avoiding much of the tourist traffic on the heavily traveled (and often stop and go) Highway 29. It is very rare to see any police enforcement once you leave the Silverado Trail and heads towards north Middleton.
