The upper portion of this road is outstanding pavement, with incredible scenery of the mountains across Katchemak Bay. However, the last few miles down to the beach are absolutely for ADV bikes ONLY (or dual sport) - this last stretch is slippery gravel roads around many sharp corners, and then a very steep descent to the coast. Honestly there's no way I could have gone back up the hill on a sport machine or cruiser. But ride the amazing road until it turns to gravel, then turn around at that point. ADV/dual sport should absolutely continue to the beach.
