I saw this ride rated as 5-stars, so made a special trip to check it out in June 2016. The eastern half towards Port Angeles is heavily wooded, so it only has great scenery if your idea of great view is a ribbon of asphalt sandwiched between tree trunks on both sides. Not a whole lot to see... and the traffic! There wasn`t a lot of it, but I found there were several times I had to outdodge heavy trucks hauling logs. That, and several long stretches of gravel and dusty road. The western half hugs along the ocean and does have some great view. However, I found it misty and cool, so make sure to pack some raingear. Along the way you pass through a couple of quaint little towns, but also some small towns that are, shall we say, down on their luck and have seen better days. You can see a nice view of the ocean one moment, then pass by a front yard full of rusty car wrecks and garbage the next. At the end of the road you are rewarded with the views in the Flattery Point park. It was a decent ride, but I`ve seen many roads that were far more fun to ride and much more scenic. Sorry, but I found it a bit of a let-down; at best I would rate it 3 to 3.5 stars.
A great ride out to the tip of the Olympic Peninsula. Beautiful coastal scenery and amazing views if you hike out to the tip of the park at the end of the road. See pics below.
Hike at the end of the road - you MUST hike out and see the view.
This is the very tip of Olympic Peninsula. You MUST hike out and see the view at the end of the road.
