Ive done the route on the 06/08/2013. its a good route to do from barnard castle to feetham with 1 little ford to cross and you have a few cattle grids and I did the route back as well even more fun on the way back between the cattle grid and the ford is a nice place to stop and have 5 there is and there isnt a signal dependent on network
Ive ridden this one much to the disgust of many of my mates - it doesnt really lend itself to sportsbikes, especially Ducatis, but hey, its a great place to be and you can go scratching somewhere else.
This route consists of country roads over open moorland dropping down into deep valleys with the occasional stream to cross (easy, in dry weather), (I have a big trailie but others in our group have sport bikes and tourers all enjoyed the route). It starts in Barnard Castle, head south down the hill and over the river, turn left on b6277, ride to A66 turn right,100mtrs turn left signposted Reeth, over moorland 15kms turn left in Arkengarthdale and right signposted Low Row. Climb again onto Gunnerside Fells, here is where you will find tight bends, a stream or two before dropping down again into Swaledale at Low Row, from here you can turn right (B6270) along to Thwaite and the Buttertubs Pass to Hawes or carry on to Kirkby Lonsdale or turn left to Reeth, Richmond, A1 the choice is yours, enjoy.
