I ride a variation of this route. Can be quick in places, usually very lightly trafficked but mostly rural roads with farm traffic to watch out for so be careful. Road surface can be bumpy with loose clippings a possibility but no pot holes. Great to ride through the heart of the sperrins and see some really very good scenery. The landscape changes at almost every corner and mostly follows a river route along a valley so this is far from dull. Well worth linking into a ride around the sperrins or detour off your main route, you won’t be disappointed.
Beautiful ride through the Sperrins, even on a damp day. Plenty of nice valleys and undulations providing interesting corners. Surrounded by hills touching the clouds, riding past TV transmitters. Not much traffic at all on a Sunday afternoon but plenty of farms and driveways so need to be careful. Some short straights but plenty of undulations. The western part of the road has been resurfaced but the eastern part is a bit below average. No major potholes though! I came from the west coast through wild donegal scenery and this was nearly as good.
stunning road in either direction
