I have ridden this route both ways, from the Swiss side into Italy and vice versa.The first time I rode it I was heading from Lake Maggiore to Chamonix. It was June, yet there was a reasonable amount of snow at the top, thermals and winter gloves were needed. The views on this route are superb as Switzerland comes into view, breathtaking scenery. My second trip was during March and there was a huge amount of snow, icy roads and impatient Italian HGV drivers trying to knock us off our bikes, thankfully there were lots of pull in passing places. One of my hairier moments in Italy. Fantastic in summer, best avoided when snow and ice are around.

This is a main road from Swiss to Italy and has some traffic. Great corners and views but road surface was slippery from the top to Italy side (in this part it was raining). I really enjoyed the Brig to the top side. Fantastic scenery.
