The only thing I think wrong with writers assessment is the Police presence it is nearer 5 than 3 on week end especially at the start of the season. The Settle bypass and the road between Ingleton and Hawes can have more cops than an inner city riot
Nice run around North Yorks ideal for Adventure bikes, some of this is on single track roads with a few gates thrown in (tip leave your bike in gear engine off to avoid roll overs when you get off), there is also some nice "progressive" A roads (A682 & A59) and the notional start point is Skipton Castle - worth a visit if you like old things. You could turn right at Ingleton and head north to Kirby Lonsdale fora brew at Devils Bridge or head on into the Lake District. If you are on a Sports bike avoid the leg to Dent and carryon past the Ribblehead viaduct - your kidneys will thank you. The Dent leg has a mini version of the Ribblehead viaduct nice photo oppertunity and probably has less people around when Steam traisn are running - if thats of interest to you.
