great
Did this route by accident on Thursday 15th October 2009. Lovely sweeping bends and good visibility. Was a bit damp on the day but considering it was the first proper ride on my new VFR no problems at all. Turn right to Hawes and have some lunch at the cafe on the left opposite the chippy. Biker frendly to say the least and have the Yorkshire pudding, sausage and chips if you can. Well worth the trip. Then back to Devils Bridge.
stumbled across this route at midday on a sunny saturday , it just made it really worthwhile getting the bike , worth going out of your way for
I did this ride on Friday 20th March 2009. Weather was fine and dry. Road was very quite. Condition of road surface was pretty poor in places and quite a bit of loose gravel in centre of road. Excellent Road.
Very busy on the usual Summer Sundays, so watch out for city types going too fast too soon, or the locals who know every corner and gearchange by heart. Many chances to crash. Best on an evening.
Take the B6479 out of Settle towards Chapel-le-Dale. When the get to the Ribblehead viaduct tuen right on the B6255 to Hawes. This really is a superb stretch of road and one of the finest in the dales. The first half is a rollercoaster of a road with a grat variety of bends. Stop at the midway point to admire the Ribblehead Viaduct - one of the classic views of the Dales. The second half to Hawes is faster and more open. Very popular with bikes in the summer, so watch out for police. An unmarked blue Subaru patrols this area so keep an eye out.
